Jaap van Zweden talks about his big plans for Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra

Jaap van Zweden has a master plan. The music director of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra wants his charges to join the upper echelon of international orchestras through an intensive course of touring, recording, polishing core repertoire and stretching its stylistic range. "We can be great ambassadors for the city in coming years," says the 54-year-old.

Jaap van Zweden debuts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

Jaap van Zweden, the Dutch-born Music Director of the Dallas Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestras will make his debut with the legendary Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, standing in at the last minute for an indisposed Yannick Nezet-Seguin. He will conduct the orchestra in Bruckner's Symphony No. 8, at a morning concert in the Vienna Konzerthaus on Sunday 6th at 11.00am.

Jaap van Zweden Extends Contract to Remain Music Director of DSO Through 2018/19

The Dallas Symphony Association has announced that the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and Music Director Jaap van Zweden have agreed to extend his contract through the 2018/19 season. Maestro van Zweden began his tenure as Music Director in 2008, under an original four-year contract. That agreement was extended in 2009 for an additional four years. The new three year extension will mark eleven years of artistic leadership for van Zweden.

Jaap van Zweden Earns Prestigious Edison Award for Best Opera Recording

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is proud to announce that its Music Director Jaap van Zweden has been honored for one of the best recordings of the year. On May 23, 2012 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, it was announced that Van Zweden received the prestigious 2012 Edison Award for Opera Recording for Wagner’s Parsifal, which he recorded with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Radio Choir, with the State Male Choir “Latvija,” on the Challenge Classics label.

Jaap van Zweden's new recording of Britten's War Requiem

Jaap van Zweden leads a new recording of Benjamin Britten's profound and dramatic choral masterpiece War Requiem. The SACD will be released on 20 April 2012 on Challenge Records, and was recorded live at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in May 2011 with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, tenor Anthony Dean Griffey, baritone Mark Stone, and soprano Evelina Dobracheva.
